Evening all.
Whist joyfully racing in the sprints at teesside a week ago, someone ploughed into the back of me going into the first bend on lap 1, I felt pain at the time but just kinda went with the adrenaline and a little bit of screaming into my helmet on the right hand bends. Over a week later and in a fair bit of pain, which turns into absolute agony if I cough or sneeze, turns out to be a couple of broken ribs.
I took a look at the back of my kart to find the rear bumper is heavily bent, more so than a jemmy bar will sort.
I'm still new to this, and this was a real wakeup call as to how easy it is to get hurt. I know its motorsports and all motorsports are dangerous etc, but its not really something you worry about when flying around the track at speed.
Sadly I don't think I'll be racing next month now as its about 8 weeks to sort the ribs, but I'll most certainly be there cheering on the rest, and in the meantime be investing in a rib protector.
Take it easy out there people, its only a race !!
