if the engine started off ok then got worse through the day? then oil is almost certainly the problem. your leak test might show up the problem, make sure thicker oil is mineral only, the bore may have become glazed in which case you;ll be starting again. Gibbs sell an oil called BR (break in) specially for this purpose.
