Hi...Im new to karting and could do with some info to help with set up of some Honda GX160 engines.
I have recently bought a prokart which will be used just for open racing at the minute. The two Honda engines are modified from standard as they have 14cc Cylinder heads which have been skimmed by 0.065" with G4 valve springs fitted, GX200 Bored carbs and GX200 (CL1) camshaft.
The engines currently rev to around 6300-6400 rpm.....My queries are:
1) What would be the optimum valve clearances for these mods...I have been told differing values from 2thou inlet 3 thou ex, 4 thou for both inlet and ex and also 4 thou inlet 8 thou ex? Anyone have any info to support either of the values?
2) What is the best coil to flywheel gap setting. Its currently at 3 thou and wondered whether this was correct for this engine and these mods.
3) The crank/cam timing is set as standard from it being new and has not been altered....would having this changed make a big difference to performance?
Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks
