Most tracks have "owner / driver" practice, where the kart is not required to meet the MSA Class regulations. However many tracks have limitations to the sort of kart they can run, so you cannot turn up to a Direct Drive track with a gearbox and expect to run it.

Most tracks will want to know that the kart you put on the track meets some kind of safety standard so there are limits on "do what ya want". But you could run engines with oversize restrictors or sticky tyres and so on without too much trouble.

Look at the websites and look for the Owner Driver Calendar. Note too that some tracks restrict pre-race practice Saturdays to entrants in the meeting, while other tracks have "non-licence" sessions which are heavily used by novices looking to get up to speed for their ARKS test, so aren't really suitable for impromptu racing or careless driving. (Even though there's a core of 'independent' non-licenced drivers who don't use their common sense).

Clay Pigeon most Friday / Saturdays, Dunkeswell the penultimate weekend each month, Forest Edge by the calendar, Llandow most days by arrangement.

Best answer, ring the tracks.
