The codes indicate the potential application for the engines. There is a Honda web site somewhere that will tell you but a lot has to do with the size and shape of the crank. The qhq4 is a straight shaft of 19mm diameter I think ( but don't quote me). Others will be tapered. Other codes relate to oil alerts and different exhausts.

For racing in controlled classes we are only permitted to use those specified in the Honda technical regulations. I do recall a dsq many years ago for a driver not using the then required QHQ4 model.
