There has been some reasonable kit around at the moment that would make good starter packages. £2k should get you a newish chassis and reasonable engines for sure and I agree with Chris with buying on the cheap.

Running costs are what you want to make of it. Although my experience is in sprinting I would easily look at 20-25 hours between full rebuilds with the heads done as necessary in-between (but only if drop off noted on the leak down tester).

Howard is one of the good guys for sure and there are very few people around with the experience he has in prokarting.
