I spoke with Guy at length this afternoon. The position on Helmets and Suits will be clarified. Helmets will probably be ok if they are Snell rated, ACU (motorcycle) or the old BS Type A and NOT just MSA approved. Similarly with suits - provided that the appropriate grade of suit is used and in condition acceptable to the scrutineers regardless of the CIK expiry date these will be accepted.

As regards tyres it is likely that it will be Dunlop only for both wets and slicks this year but keeping an eye on what is happening in 2012 with Honda Challenge with a view to a switch for 2013. Thus the loyal WL driver will not have to rush out to buy new tyres for the start of this season but manage stock throughout the year with a view to follow the national championship in 2013.

Further, the technical Honda regs as issued by Kelvin that may incorporate those related to the new Engine will be adopted immediately on publication.

Keep an eye on the KNE website for alteration to the 2012 regulations. The suggestion was made that the 1.5x points for the first round will be dropped as might the 10 extra points for competing in all 10 rounds.

The tightening of the clubman classification may also go a stage further to exclude both current and former MSA licence holders (regardless of class). This is as Ian Lawson originally intended and, in spirit, how the class was initially introduced that has been too loosely administered in the last year or so.

Now don't please shoot the messenger as some of this may change. What is good is that Guy and his team are listening to concerns that we have and accept that it is a drivers' championship that KNE provide facilities for on behalf of T&W Kart Club. Therefore they are keen to listen to reasoned discussion and adapt and adopt to accommodate where they can. Remember, however, that there remains the commercial consideration of the KNE business to consider. We don't have an owner owned circuit and the club (as a separate legal entity) has to pay KNE for the use of the circuit, the paramedics, scrutineers, marshals and officials.

What remains clear is there will be a zero policy on aggressive behaviour towards drivers and officials (both on race days and testing) and we shall continue to respect the facilities that KNE provide for us to go racing.

In summary common sense has prevailed and the series that we know and love will continue to be very well supported. I know already that 2012 will see us continuing to attract some of the best teams and drivers in the country (and Trev) as well as some drivers new to the sport. 1st weekend in Feb isn't that far away and although I won't be driving I seriously can't wait.
