Strange for it to seize. They normally just wear themselves into a taper. Like the conrods, the aluminium is harder than the steel journals on the cams and crankshafts.

The oil feed is a bit small to the back journal, and also has no way for fine swarf from the bore and rings to escape.

Worth adding, rinsing this journal out, to you regular service list. It's a five minute job to pull the side cover and take the cam out with the engine at TDC.
