The rev RPM cable is connected to that bullet connector on the power switch although the wire is simply looped through the alfano at the other end. I do not have a "U shape connector" on it. I will have a play around with it and see if that works.

With regard to the lap timer. It is not picking up and is on the right hand side of the kart so I can't imagine it would be missing the loop. I'm guessing there is some damage to the reed switch as when I bought it the floor was badly bent due to the mounting bolt sticking below (and presumably hitting a kerb). This, I guess, has destroyed the switch. It is pointing the correct way and is bolted down on what is now a flat floor. They are quite pricey, however, so I don't particularly want to fork out for a new one until I have proven that the Alfano itself is working as it should.

On a separate note. On the theme of flexing rear ends... When I raced Rotax I had a 3 bearing axle...I was advised to loosen the mounting bolts on the "middle" bearing to give more grip. The back end of the MS is pretty solid with 4 bearings. Does anyone run the middle or outer bearings loose?

Also, someone was looking at my air intake on Sunday and mentioned that there was no paper in the filter. I take it this increases airflow, is this a common 'trick'?
