Ignore the setting numbers as the Noram site differs from the leaflet you get with the Magnum clutch. What is important is the rotation. Sprocket on the inside (ie inboard) rotation is anti clockwise as you look at the open shoes. Outside (ie outboard) rotation is clockwise looking at the open clutch.

You want the softest setting for all but standing starts - smooth engagement I think they both call it. Now they can call it setting 1 on the Magnum box and 5 of the Noram web site but it soft is the way to go.
