What tyres are you using?

I think the main thing to remember is Presure, Temperature and Volume vary directly with each other...

So it's not just as simple as saying tyres are cold pump them up, if you increase the volume that volume is harder to heat. You've also got a heating effect from the chemical reaction between the tyre and the tarmac to factor in as well.

An example would be on a hot day you find the tyres are over heating, they are too hot to touch. Dropping the presures is the probably going to be the wrong thing to do, raising them so the tyre doesn't wobble about so much on the rim will probably bring the tyre temps back into check.

A good starting point is probably about 20 psi all round for a Prokart (In all my years I don't think I've ever run less than 17 or 18). The weight of a prokart really doesn't aloow you to go much lower.

Do a run add 5 psi to the rears, get a good feel, check the times. It should start tellng you if your heading in the right direction. I'd probably go a further 5. Then maybe drop to 18 and see what happens.
