The tyre rule is simple. you purchase tyres via Howard Lucas EPEC nominated supplier. There is a tyre draw where you collect your pre-ordered tyres which are marked in sets of numbers, you are allowed a maximum of 3 sets for a 24hr event, you do not have to purchase 3 sets but you cannot use any other tyres than those issued for the said event. In a 6hr event only 1 set of tyres is issued, so we allow a 1 front, 1 rear (used) to be marked by the scrutineer (kelvin nicholls). In a 24hr you are allowed up to 3 sets so there is no need for used tyres to be marked. Howard supplies tyres in sets because thats how he has to puchase them from the supplier, though to be honest 2 sets should be more than adequate for Le Mans.
