Karting Dad

You may find that the problems NOT your 7yr old but you. Your probably the racer- not your child. You have the confidence that your child doesn't.

2 seconds in karting may as well be 2 hours for what its worth and at that pace your not looking winning only hoping that someone will retire with mechanical failure and finish further up from where they qualified.

I realise that these are tough. hard words that you didn't want to hear, but as nobody else has bothered to reply to your plight I can completely empithise with you as I know the fustration I had trying to get my 11 yr old into karting.

He started out trying to follow in his old mans tyre-tracks and was a careful, consistant, safe and winning driver - until he was moved up a class. Then reality fell around him like a cheap suit made entirely out of sledge hammers...

Both me and my lad realised at that point that he's NOT a racer and after a visit to the local A&E (suspected cracked ribs) got safely out from behind the wheel to concerntrate on all the other things that young boys are otherwise very busy with.

7yrs old is very, very young to be messing about with metal and petrol and rubber and stuff - but trust me, if your child IS a true racer then he/she will find their OWN way onto the tarmac AND find the confidence to push their way into the realms of the winning drivers and there's nothing you can do about it until it happens. But karting Dad, please, please let him/her do it for themself - not for you.

Had to stop myself breaking out into a Whitney Huston number then...
