When is motorsport cheap? Pro karting is CheapER! Never dirt cheap its always gonna cost, you can pick up a heap of S*it off ebay for 500 quid if your lucky, its probably got standard motors, not even race tuned, bent, badly maintained, i would put everything i have on it and bet that no matter who drives it, it would never win. But the upto date kart, thats well maintained, and has race tuned engines, or SPs would, with the same driver.
I dont like washing my laundry in public but i can tell you, i left SKL, got a job, not the best paying job, and got enough to by a kart, Ł1700 it cost me, and that was a bargin for what it was im tell you
i raced that for 2 or 3 years, won a championship, i was fortunate to have a fairly good set of standard engines which was down to luck. But when i moved to Pros at PF i could only manage 3rd in the championship, but i could never get to the front because my engines were not up to it, just those last few tenths
To cut a long story short ive worked my a*se off, got some SP's and a new MSkart, and last round at PF i got fastest lap in the final and 1 heat, so ive closed the gap and it was against a CLASS of drivers!!!!
Dont give me that about demonstrating you skills without SP's, it wont happen, not with the level Pro karts are at now, you look for tenths or hundreths, and if your gonna moan about the cost dont, cos i know what it costs me and i am far from earning a fortune MR DIY!
