I don’t get it: even when racing is on offer – in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere – no one with a Biland or comparable kart shows up. 12 Aixros showed up at Lydd yesterday; and that was a number by which we were quite disappointed – probably due to the mixed weather forecast (it so happened the weather was great). Anyway, that’s on a much smaller base nationally than Biland, Swissauto etc. combined. So what’s going on? Lydd offers monthly racing that is very flexible and welcoming; they’ll do their very best to accommodate racers. And there must be other tracks around the country with a similar offering. To effectively say – if this is the case – that “I won’t go unless 15 others commit before me” is a powerfully negative force and sadly quite common on this forum. What are tracks to do to beat it? Or do 99% of owners of these karts simply not want to race, notwithstanding the occasional posting on here claiming otherwise?
PS: I should stress that these Lydd race meetings are certainly not restricted to 4-stroke; Rotax etc. are also very welcome.
