WD40 is NOT a very good lubricant, and using it will rapidly wear the bearings and often lead to failure.
Using Lubin bearing lubricant regularly I can get a full season of endurance racing from my axle bearings and they're still ok at the end of the year. PLUS, the axle spins up beautifully - but don't ever be fooled by spinning axles - its how they go when there's a bit of heat in the bearings that counts, and if you've used WD40 to try and lubricate them, that little bit of heat is going to make them as dry as a bone and as tight as a ducks *rse!!!
