i would say yes. Since this weight was set the karts have got a lot heavier with all the bits and bobs that the MSA now insist upon (chain guards, disc protector, full cik side pods etc.

Your club, however, can apply for a variation to the rules in the blue book (Section n or something - n13 rings a bell but it has been years since I have looked at this). In doing so the local rules can be varied to the higher weight.

We race non-MSA at Warden Law but essentially within MSA guidelines with the weight limit set at 180kgs (Seniors) which proves to be very popular. The extra 5kg makes very little to lap time but the grids are massive. In fact competant juniors race with seniors on senior kit. They are, afteral, significantly less powerful than a minimax with the only dissadvantage being the lead they have to carry (some more than others!!)
