I too am well off the pace, struggling to even see the back of the pack, and had put this down to mainly my lack of time in the seat, being 10kg overweight and running an old & past it chassis (as well as being old and past it myself!).
The best thing I've done so far to assess the situation was let another more experienced driver take my kart out. Within a few laps he was a second faster than me, then started chipping a way the times to put in laps that would have put the kart in the top half of the pack. He came in and gave an assessment of what it was like. He reckoned it handled very well, that perhaps the tracking was little out, and that the motors weren't quite pulling top speed as well has his own...and that it stopped better than his own kart.
This was really helpful, as it meant that the basic set-up was about right, and I could have look at the tracking and maybe tweaking the gearing. This also means that I won't have to waste too much time fiddling with the set-up, it's proved that the kart as it stands is capable of better lap times, and has pointed me in the right direction for progress - loose 10kg and spend more time in the seat!
Definitely the best thing I've done whilst testing, as it's removed some of the doubts about whether it's me or the kart. I've seen this advice on another forum, and it's definitely spot-on.
