yup - others will argue differently but this has never failed for me. Use a long screwdriver along the top of the crankcase looking from the clutch end and slide it though the gaps in the casing on the top right. Turn the engine with the pull cord until the flywheel locks against the big screwdriver then tighten away.

The alternatives are a piston stop or an impact gun.
