If you've bought a kart off eBay, I'd strongly suggest you strip it to the bare chassis and re-assemble.

Two reasons - a) You'll be sure that you've uncovered any bodges that the previous owners may have made, so providing that you put it all back correctly and replace any suspect parts, it should be properly screwed together and safe b) You will learn a lot about how everything fits together and works, so future repairs and maintenance will be less of a challenge.

I make the point about eBay, but when buying secondhand, unless you know the kart and the previous owner as having a good track record, you may find your idea of what is workmanlike and safe may differ wildly from the previous owners....I speak from experience after doing this twice with 'pre-enjoyed' karts.
