No, not the best way to care for your transponder. If it is one of the newer 160's (slightly rounded case) as is suggested by saying you have just bought your first transponder, you should place the transponder back in its charging cradle for storage, which, if you read the manual, places the transponder in sleep mode. Note you do not need to have the cradle attatched to the charge lead. If you are leaving the transponder un used for an extended perion over the winter ensure you do a full charge once per month but do not leave the unit on charge for any extended period when the charge indicator goes solid green. From fully charged when removed from the cradle the green light should flash rapidly in bursts of up to 6 flashes. The more flashes the better the condition of the battery. Hope this helps.
