RPM's £350 motors at the start of the year are good. H back to back tested them at Teesside and reckoned there was only a tenth between them and his race engines. They will have been prepped as good as the current motors and with the benefit of time and their next rebuild they will get better.

A quick swap of the engines will be a good test. Torque Power was H's own engine builder so would think they should be ok (they won Le Mans last year!) but I think they have stopped so next time for a rebuild send them to RPM.

Your cam gear will have already been done and only needs doing the once. I used to do quite a bit of my own engine prep and did ok. Heads do benefit from a lapping of the valves to keep on top of seals and you can see quite a bit of compression improvement after only a few hours use, especially with new engines.

Brian's eBook is good. I learned a lot when I started out from Brian and this assisted greatly when getting familiar with the engines (which are quite simple). Be familiar with the 2009 Honda regs that we run at WL, however, before doing anything as Brian's publications were for Open Racing and some of what he describes will take you outwith our regs.

You shouln't need to do too much for now. Just being familiar with the carb, clutch, pump, changing the valve springs and setting the clearances and lapping valves will see you right for a while. Just remember that removal of metal/material is a big no-no and all that that entails. Been some profile disq in recent weeks for this. Also use standard Honda parts and not clone or gx200 bits or trick parts for sale on ebay and you will be fine. We had a disq last month for a gx200 head gasket - it sticks out like a sore thumb.
