Gary,

Both stays on my daughter's kart are clamped to the bar behind the seat. the right one attaches to the rear of the seat very close to the curved side whilst the left one attaches to the side of the seat roughly where you would expect a fixed seat stay to be.

I do use 7Kart engine mounts to provide adjustment to the engine position since we had to move up a seat size. It does work but I did also cut away some of teh side pod.
