Some parents pay for karting through sponsorship via their business - I suspect if some of these businesses are VAT registered, this buy back scheme would be a nightmare, as I assume if they sell the engine they would have to technically add VAT?? and then what about the profit on same....the last thing anyone needs is more paperwork for the Inland Reveue!

Simplist, solution would have been a race hire scheme. Hire it at circuit, race it, hand it back-job done.

I like the sentiment of reducing costs, but so far I havent seen the rules anywhere to make an informed judgement, but with the rumours currently around I can see more negatives than positivies, and I fear that as with many things, you may only get one chance to get it right.
I am sure for any success you need a sizable majority from the community to support it (from Newby to graduating cadet), and I get the feeling that jury is not only out but possibley down the pub!
