You're probably right, I'm not advocating Buy-back, just trying to point out that it can and does work in sorting out real or perceived differences in engines and by association, driver ability. The advantage is that engines can be rigourously checked without inconvinience to competitors or organisors. I for one have seen the euphoria of winning diluted too many times by lengthy (up to 1.5 hours)post race engine checks.

When it comes to Cadets(or kids in any competitive sport), my experience is that there are parents who are prepared to do anything to see little Johny win and this can include cheating even when the chance of being caught is quite high. Only by making it impossible to get away with cheating, as 'Buy back' effectively does, can the spectre of cheats be completely removed.
