At least the GX160 is relatively equal to start off with, you can still talk about the difference between a well prepared out the box engine and a parts selected engine in tenths. As previously mentioned, you have two viable options in the class, build you're own engines using the clear rules and mounds of information that is available or go to one of the engine builders and pay for a level of engine depending on your budget.
You should consider yourself lucky, I just wish we had that level of clarity and choices in our racing.
With the GX120 we run the huge differences in the cylinder head means a good one will be up to 2 seconds faster than a bad one.
Couple that with the federation and Honda France continueing to insist they are all absolutely equal.....so we'll seal them all from new, well you can imagine the problem.
