You need to keep the weight the same at 180Kgs as otherwise you could find the clubman drivers messing up racing with the Pro class (similar to mixing WF and Prokarts like last year!). 180Kgs has worked for years both at WL and PF. Yes the MSA limit is less but what do they know and chassis (and the older driver) has got heavier in the past 5 years with no alteration to the limit.
Something further that we need to clarify is the race format. The web site states that we should be racing over 4x 12 lap heats and a 15 lap final - i.e. a total of 63 laps racing , however, I think we have only had one 15 lap final this year (albeit the weather has played its part). PF run 3x20 laps (or 20 mins) plus a 25 lap final(or 25 mins) similar to WL a few years back. I know views are split at the moment and I quite like the 5 race format and having raced at both circuits PF is a lot less physical and technical than WL and some of our older drivers might need their heart started in the scrutineering bay before they climb out of the seat (at least that is where the ambulance is parked). Where I do think we need clarification is to confirm the number of laps/time per races as one of the biggest criticisms I have received from visiting drivers is that the races are too short and not as published.
Ian is listening to his customers and sounds like is to race Prokarts next year (maybe he has a vested interest in the heavyweight class!!). But we need to decide:
tyres: - Dunlop and/or Bridgestones - done Winter Series - done Race length/format - to be agreed Classes Pro/Clubman/Heavy - to be agreed
Final thing reading the news letter, it is clear that Ian's insurance costs are influenced by MSA racing. If there is to be only one race meeting per month as suggested in one of the options in the questionnaire should the Pro's prefer to race under the tryo banner (no medical required - one off license fee) and be part of a full race meeting or part of a hire kart meeting?
