I haven't been on this forum for some years now and it's like I have never been away. Different contributors but all the same subject -Big expensive motors and deep deep pockets required.
IMHO the answer to the problem for Juniors and Seniors was available some years ago but it never took off and was allowed to die. This was TKM 4stroke. A class with very even motors and a long time between rebuilds. You could easily do a season of normal racing and testing without a midseason rebuild.
Speed was not far off Rotax at club level.
Engines were sealed and only Talko - the manufacturer - could work on them but that removed most of the cause for complaint about engine builders. I don't recall anybody calling TalKo's integrity into question.
I don't understand why it was not taken up in greater numbers.
As a lad and dad team from the sticks we managed 4th in the TKM festival and believe me our budget was miniscule by anybody's standards.
But it seems that in reality the majority are happy with the two stroke engine situation and even happier to moan about it.
Anyway off for another few years:-)
