"Would anyone be silly enough to use a stud that was too short?" Probably not but we've all got flustered and forgotten to tighten something up, or used a different part and found our bolts, studs, nuts don't have the fit/clearence they did before!
I think the best comment, was why kart manufactures don't give enough clearence for the correct fixing, wheels that won't take a nyloc, recesses for cap heads that don't allow room for a washer. Truth is, they don't really care because if it creates a problem, they just sell you another overpriced, poorly engineered replacemenf.
Same as chassis that crack regularly in the same places, electrics not up to the job, the original Iame cadet coils that broke down, pull cord systems that let go, bambino carb's that crack etc etc.
Top dollar pricing, controlled supply chain, no warranty.. Apparently that's racing!
