Its a decent motor to drive. for me thats the main point of the class. It drives a lot better, decent tyre to drive, and has a bit more freedom. The ability to adjust the carb on track is great too.
I would say its more equal than rotax max. but like anything people are trying to find time in every single component right now, and thats up to them. Maybe they will find a various differences. maybe it will be team rumours to help you part with your cash.
Iv liked x30 and promoted it hard. but i feel somewhat its being taken up by the wrong people now who are looking for some miracle of equalness and reliability that will never be found unless you want to race in the virtual world.
the x30 is more about the driving feel. much closer to a 100cc race engine than a mechanical appliance. if you want hassle free karting rotax and honda cadet are your best options.
I'm lucky i adopted it straight away and that whole community who started it off in the UK was very special, they were doing x30 for the correct reasons. Very similar to the F100 crowd. Now people are coming in just because the grids are bigger and thats where people who are "warranty, Safety, and reliability" lead start coming in and they will be disapointed as they are not driving the product just paying for it so it won't make much sense, :-)
Do x30 because of how it drives. if thats not the top priority then i wouldn't recommend it, as you won't be able to cope with the slightly higher maintenance costs and time it takes looking after it.
I love the x30 motor and would never drive a max or tkm again. but everyone already knows that ;-)
