We have 3 years of experience with the X30 including both UK and International competition. Here is what we have found: Reliability The starter motor failed us on 3 occasions but once repaired by Mills they are as good as other starters. Top tip is to restart the engine once you have finished a session so you know it will be OK next time or you have time to fix. The loom has failed a couple of times as the connectors are poor quality. Have a loom replicated by a specialist with quality sealed connectors. Use for testing and practice. Save the standard loom for races. We have had a magneto replaced. Rebuild after about 9 hours
Difference in performance: We have seen very few races where there has been a big spread of lap times. We have run 2 engines that are literally straight out of the box. One recorded the 2nd fastest at the Europeans and another came in the top 3 at ADAC. Graham used a Grice hire engine for his win at Le Mans last year. When we raced Rotax at Super One it was clear to all that there was a significant difference in the engines that we have not seen so far in X30. Who knows if some batches are better than others, only time will tell. Hope this is useful.
