Simon - I am not sure I could agree with your comment "democratically demanded by drivers". There tends to be a minor outcry whenever a new class is allowed but then it all calms down until the next new class.
Would the demand be the same if the MSA published a proposed list of MSA classes? For example, if they said the only cadet class would be Iame then would drivers in Honda, WTP, Comer etc vote for or against the proposal - probably against. The same would apply if the only junior class suggested was Rotax - maybe all the TKM, Blue, X30, Easykart (and any I have missed out) would vote No and have more votes than the Rotax ones. Going back to the Easykart decision, I wonder how many appeals they have following a CoC ruling compared to other championships. Maybe it is so low that they feel they do not need the full MSA appeals system (cost).I read the MSA 2017 proposals differently - full stand alone championships would still be allowed (subject to following correct application). What they would stop was a championship running in club meetings but with separate grids for the same class e.g. junior TKM club race and junior TKM championship race. Instead, there would be just one race although the championship promoters could then have a points table just for championship entrants.
