we always run a sprocket protector anyway, however, the dynamic loads are not insignificant. but a kerb, broken chain and a twisted crank are catastrophic.

but the point is clear, with engines, a small change is multiplied by 15-16,000 revs. things start to add up - but on the axle its about 2000 revs.

however, Banzai Boy is right, most improvement is about knowing the line around the track. no substitute for talent
