IMO there are differences, and there are some basic carb castings that seem to be able produce more power, or a better spread of power, as there are with all makes of carb, but the differences when either good or not so good is built well and set up properly for the conditions is not big enough to worry about unless you really are only looking for half a tenth, and everything else is perfect. So - align the venturi, set it up well, and let others spend their brass chasing plastic.
