Thanks for all replies. 265mm are my requirement. Will set by bolting through undamaged rod to set length then check alignment as you have described. Think we may have been lucky to escape with a straight chassis (have checked various dimensions and can find no discrepancies) as it appears to me that a fair amount of force is required to bend steering-column!
