We’re far from local to Hooton, so only did one round (my son in junior 2-stroke). But on that basis I would echo all the praise going for the IndiKart racing there: family atmosphere, relaxed, friendly, clean, fair and fun racing - nothing short of excellent. Where there were (very) minor ‘incidents’, the parents encouraged their youngsters to approach the one on the receiving end and apologise to them. Not that such encouragement was needed; the ‘kids’ seemed to have a well-developed sense of fair play. If that’s not the perfect model for the way forward in (club-level) karting, I cannot imagine what is: racing for enjoyment only rather than to chase some forlorn dream to emulate Lewis Hamilton.
NB: The IndiKart series at Hooton is not limited to 2-stroke – it also has good 4-stroke grids.
