You guys should does some google searching on simulation of kart models. It brings interesting reading, this one looks at the effects of moving driver location (seat) and rear track width.

The theory I'm using looking at these is a physics model can't be wrong (although maybe oversimplified) so it may give you a better idea of what is placebo and what is not.

I'm trying to find one that deals with axle 'stiffness' but one above does mention the amount of flex your sprocket will see.
