Eve, I don't agree that there is nothing you can do. From what you have said you were able to race competitively in junior TKM but have been forced out of seniors. You could send an email to S1, MSA and Tal-Ko asking if is their intention to penalise lighter drivers and prevent them moving from the junior to senior classes (it is the senior classes where numbers seem to be falling). You could also contact Karting magazine to see if they would be interested in an article about this issue to open up a debate. I appreciate that this will not help you for this year but maybe it could help for next year. If my maths is correct, given your weight at 7.5 stone (about 48kg) I would guess that you ran with the 135 restrictor in juniors as the 142 restrictor would require a minimum driver weight of 59kg and I doubt if your race gear would weigh 11kg (or is that just the rules for 2011?). At your weight I do not see how you could have entered any senior races this year as the minimum driver weight for the 146 and 152 shows a minimum driver weight of 68kg (although you do mention competing in the early S1 rounds). The restrictor system in TKM really sets it apart as a series that aims to have competitive racing across a range of driver weights and is possibly part of the reason for it's increasing popularity and to exclude drivers moving to the senior class seems a retrograde step which is why it should be worth making the effort to raise this issue. Having said that, the MSA may well feel that there should be an overall minimum weight for the driver for safety reasons - power to weight/strength ratio or something - easy to check weight but more difficult for strength.
