Oil to fuel ratio

Read a few articles on here about what people use as a ratio for mixing shell m oil for cadet. Whether it be 40mls per litre or 50mls. Can anyone tell me what the effects are? Higher engine temp for instance when using less oil or vice versa? Performance gains etc?
