Hang on , you have just said whats wrong with someone with a good engine knowledge having a go, yet in your first post you dont seem to have any idea with your comment "surely a bigger piston would be better" clearly its not better if it only gives you a piston clearance of 0.25 instead of 0.50,

Someone once said to me as i was about to undertake some electrical work which i had asked his advice on, "if you have to ask how save yourself the pain and dont do it!"

But then i dont think you will be happy untill you have tried and lets face it you only learn from your mistakes.
