Needles: as said above, the needles are stamped K98 or K27 at the top near the clip. Not only is the K98 less tapered towards the tip (ie 'thicker') but the tip itself is flatter.
Best thing is to have one of each + 2 clips. Then you can place them on a bench and view them together (magnifying glass for me!). Not only that but you can then test them on a track with a very simple, quick change.

Testing: Rye House near Hoddesdon (A10) would probably suit your requirements. 01992 460895 option 1 for testing times.
