One of the issues with axles on otk karts was the sprocket carrier when fitted with a.max engine sits on only half the key. This puts excess load on the holes for the pegs. The very latest otk karts have a new spec disc and sprocket carriers to move the load more central on either pegs. Dave at strawberry used to reverse the sprocket carrier so I'm told although quick changes were not so easy. I did however hear that an axle at pf broke using this new carrier although whether axle was a used one I'm not sure. A friend and team owner who has access to specialist testing equip said he checked for cracks on his drivers axles and although not visible some had fractures appearing around the inner peg hole closest to bearing hanger on engine side. So my advice any signs of enlarging on pegged keyways dispose of the axle. Def better safe than sorry. Even if in these hard times it may be throwing money away. Certainly if u race at one of the mentioned tracks where kerbs are large.
