Join the frustrated TAG owners club- we have exactely the same issue and have tried all sorts - TALKO will advise that all spades/connections must be spotless however after lot of work problem still persists. Got new CDI box - not much better ! Now got new loom - result tbc. The good news is that if you connect a battery direct to the starter motor it starts instantly - every time ! We are now rigging up a semi permanent cure along these lines - the another alternative is to start it on the grid with a very expensive hand held starter- but this somewhat negates the TAG idea ! The other good news is that the motor does go very well indeed when on track !! Very very frustating and seems to be a very very common problem.
