Hi, just my penny's worth having read your post! I run in senior max and i am fully aware that we are a fair bit heavier than your son in his outfit. However i tend to run a 12 front and 86 or 87 rear at ellough. Now my train of thoughts has led me to believe, as a rule of thumb a tooth on the front is worth about 3 on the rear. ( may not be 100% accurate but the theory worked with motorcycle racing gearing years ago).
Now looking at your gearing like this i make you having my equivalant of 12/82!!!!!
Now that is my view on your karts current gearing and im surprised it will even pull out of the corners.
I also dont know of many people who run a 13 front. Again it may be "the minimax" thing to do, but i have seen recently top minimax's lapping ellough in the 44's!!!! maybe one of those kartstars will come forward and guide you to what they used on that weekend???
As for jetting......good luck! I go with the simple principle of looking at the top of the piston crown after you have got the engine cut as quickly as possible when your son enters the pits. You need to get it cut quick or your reading wont be as accurate. Take the plug out and look for a brown coloured piston crown (using torch) with maybe slightly wet edges! There are other ways of checking your jetting as you will find out in due course. My method is trusted by myself and costs me nothing to do. touch wood i never have blown a 2 stroke engine up in 26yrs a as a result!
Was you at ellough sunday in the rain (today)?
If i can advise any more then please ask.
