Glitt,

I'm not sure anyone has found a performance advantage from greasing TKM clutches yet, as it doesn't seem to have been banned...

Castrol LM is a high melting point grease, but has a few limitations in that it's on the thin side. Great for wheel bearings, but tends to smear itself over the wheels when the brakes get hot on a race car. Doesn't seem to stay in the main seals of a TKM terribly long, and I'm a bit dubious about the corrosion protection it gives.

The addition of the X on the end of Castrol grease designations generally implies that it's got got some "extreme pressure" additives in it. Generally molybdenum disulphide. As far as I can gather, LMX is also higher melting point than LM. The EP qualities will make no difference in TKM main seals that I can think of, but the higher melting point will mean that it probably stays put a bit longer.

I'm sure it will be fine!

Liam
