While you will hear many different takes on this subject, I agree 100% with liams post. That exact approach works for me also.

I still can't work out why the 'holding' pressure makes a blind bit of difference, but it does. Every carb I take off with a suspected problem never holds.

Surely once the engine is running the needle is always off its seat??? I'd love to hear a conclusive answer on this one.
