I'm not involved with either class but they both use exactly the same base engine (both with powervalves), the main differences are the carbs (KF1 has a larger diameter one), Ignition unit (15,000 rpm limit in KF2 and 16,000 rpm in KF1) & cylinder head as far as I'm aware.

KF1/SKF race on Dunlops in the UK & KF2 use Bridgestone tyres, someone who has raced in both Rotax and KF would be able to give you more specific details. After S1 2010 finishes only KF2 will be run in the UK.
