I'm rebuilding a MRC XTR KF3 engines and a bit confused with the water pump lip seal.
Which way round should it go?

It seals between gear oil on one side for the balance gears and coolant water on the other.

Is it desingned to keep the higher pressure coolant water from the oil or the other way around?

Any help much appreciated.
