have you bent 1 track rod, or both? if both, how the hell did you manage that?

if its just one, i'd make sure that the rod hasn't pinched the brake hose coming from the master cylinder.

use the tape technique, should be fine for a quick fix. I donrt have lasers etc either, but I know kart shops, ie at rye house, can set your's up for not tooo much money.
