Assuming you have re assembled with the new parts and do not have measurements from before the shunt, you can use the tape to set tracking. Fit rims to the stubs and tighten as normal. If no tyres fitted, put a mark on the edge of the inner beads with marker pen or bit of tape; rotate the marks so they are to the front; measure across the beads; rotate marks to rear and measure as before; if measurements are same = zero toe in or out (but will change slightly when driver on board); adjust to give tracking measurement as required. (smaller dimension at rear = toe out) If tyres are fitted, stick short piece of tape on each tyre, around the circumference and mark the tape; rotate marks on tape to front and rear and take measurements as above. Steering should be 'centred' for all measurements.
This does of course assume that: stubs are not bent; chassis is not bent/twisted; king pin bolts are straight. (Tracking measurement will be accurate but behaviour will be different depending on any of these issues)
Depending on length of straightedge - you could lay this across yokes and from the front 'sight' across straightedge to rear axle to check they are parallel.
Tape can be used to check measurement from rear axle/bearing hanger to king pin bolts, although any difference here could also indicate misaligned rear axle.
